Well if it's not one thing, it is another! Our 2009 Caliber that we bought the day before our wedding has hit the dust!
We were hearing some high pitched humming, so we took it in to get it diagnosed. Turns out the transmission was pretty much on it's way out the door. With only 52,000 miles on the car, we had a choice to fix the car for $4,000 or, buy a new car and be out $3,500 that we still owed on our payments. Well, we chose to go for a new car. Who knows what else would have broken, had we fixed the transmission.
After two weeks of looking we setteled on a 2012 Ford Escape.
Although our payments are a bit higher than with the caliber, we are happy with our new purchase. This car came with a 200,000mile/20yr powertrain warranty. We also have a 120,000mile/6yr bumper to bumper warranty. That settles any scary thoughts about what we would do if this car broke down too.
