Our Christmas

Friday before Christmas we had out own little family Christmas.  Yes, we wrapped gifts for Leyton and put them under the tree.  Some people thought that was sort of silly, but as first time parents we wanted to do it!  It was a lot of fun, and Leyton was so excited over his gift!

Here is Leyton with his stocking.  I had a puppy stocking growing up so when I saw this one at target I had to get it for Leyton.

Here he is with his presents in front of the tree.

Leyton loved his motorcyle we got him!  He laughed and played on it forever!

This lucky boy still has two more Christmas' to go!

Snow Storm!!!

On Thursday, we were under a severe weather warning for blizzard conditions. My work decided to stay open even though almost the entire city of Madison was closed....including clinics.  I decided to use PTO and take the day off.  I'm glad I did because we got 15 inches of snow and the roads were terrible!  Here is some picture of the snow!

While the snow came down all day I baked Christmas cookies.  I didn't think I was going to get them done this year- so thank you snow day!!!

The next day my boss realized that roads still weren't good and he decided to close the center.  So I ended up with two extra Christmas vacation days!

Christmas with my dad

On Sunday I decided to host my dad, Bonnie and grandma for Christmas at my house.  I forgot about having to prepare a meal when I made these plans with my dad, but I managed to throw together a pretty good meal.  Breaded chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn and green beans.

I have never cooked for 6 people before, so I think I did pretty well.

After dinner we exchanged gifts.  Here is Leyton and his Great Grandma.

Here is our little family Christmas picture!

Four generations!

That's it for now.  More Christmas pictures to come!

Pink Eye :(

Well, Jordan and I woke up to this....

Little man's eyes were crusted shut.  He had pink eye.  I took this next picture while we were waiting to see the doctor.

Our poor guy looked so miserable.  While we were at the doctor we found out that he still had a double ear infection as well.  This time the doctor put him on Azithromyacin.  That was suppose to clear up the pink eye and ear infections.

Hopefully the little guy will overcome the ear infections soon so mommy and daddy will get some sleep.

Getting in the Christmas Spirit!

Last year for the first time we went and cut down a tree for Christmas.  Jordan had always grown up with a fake tree, but my family always had a real one.  We really enjoyed the experience last year, so we decided to do it again.  The selection at the tree farm we went to last year wasnt very good.  I heard a lot of great things about Han's Christmas Tree Farm, so we went there.  I had never seen so many trees!  They had acres and acres of trees to cut!  Once you cut your tree down, you hauled it to a wagon, and were able to get a wagon ride back to the parking lot.  They even had a really cute crafty gift shop there and a playground for the kids.  We were very impresses with our trip there and will most likely return next year.

Here are some pictures from our adventure!

Searching for the perfect one!

Daddy cutting down the tree!

They even had trees growing that were Leyton size!

It took a few days to decorate the tree and house but we are happy with the final product!

Hopefully next year we will have more lights for the house.... but this is a good start!

Next weekend, I will hopefully get the Christmas cookies done!

Five Months and Hives

Leyton is five months old.  He is more smiley and isn't so shy of the camera so it's easier to catch it on camera!

Here are my Carharts from Grandpa Mike!

I love holding my own bottle now!

A few blog posts back I mentioned how Leyton was waking up so often and we thought he was hungry.  It turns out he had a double ear infection.  I guess we know now for the future how he reacts.  The doctor instructed us to hold off on medicine because 50 percent go away on their own.  This guy wasn't so lucky.  He probably had his for 3 weeks.  We finally were told to give Amoxicillin.  On his tenth and final day of having medicine, our little guy broke out in hives.

It is hard to see in these pictures, but this one covers his whole cheek.

This one is hard to see, but his whole face was red and bumpy.  You might be able to tell it pretty swollen.

Unfortunatley, the medicine seemed to work well, but the second to last day he started becoming extremely fussy again.  We were actually thinking he was getting a second ear infection while still on the meds for the first one!  When he broke out in hives, the doctor did say that babies can get hives from colds etc.  Therefore, He said the hives are most likely from something he caught rather than from the medicine.  If he is treated with Amoxicillin again and reacts, then they would list the medicine as an allergy.

Hopefully our little guy will get a string of good luck and steer clear of colds and ear infections for awhile!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  We sure did!  It was great to go back to Hudson to see family and friends.  Here are some pictures of Leyton on his first Thanksgiving.

Leyton tries sweet potatoes!

Our little guy is 4 1/2 months old and still waking up 2-3 times a night to feed.  We started to think that maybe he was ready for cereal or something to help his hunger.  Leyton's doctor had mentioned that rice cereal (a common strating food) now has reports of Arsenic in it.  He said we could skip cereal and go right into baby foods, and that they actually started both their kids on mashed potatoes.  I had a jar of sweet potatoes in the house, so we tried them.  Surprisingly Leyton did pretty well!  Besides giving us strange looks, he did spit some out, but ate the majority!

Our little guy is just growing up so fast!

Since Leyton did so well, I decided to be ambitious and make him sweet potatoe baby food to save money and because it seems more nutritious.  Everyone said it would be so easy, but I of course struggled.  I couldn't get the potatoes to cook in the oven for the life of me!  Three hours later I finally had baby food to freeze!

After making a huge mess in the kitchen, I was really proud of myself for the finished product.  Next I think we'll introduce carrots!

Halloween

Leyton really enjoyed his first Halloween!  So did Mommy and daddy!  Leyton was able to dress up at daycare in the afternoon!  Here he is with one of his teachers, Miss M.

Later that night, Jordan's cousin came over with their daughter, A.  She was dressed as Annie who is from her favorite movie!  If you couldn't tell, Leyton was a giraffe.

Jordan and I had fun trick-or-treating! It brought us back to the good ol' days!  Thank goodness little A gave us a good excuse to go.  They live in the boonies, so they came to our neighborhood to get candy.

It was nice to get a family picture at the end of the night before our little guy crashed.  He was tired from all the festivities!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

The Last few weeks :)

Grandma Laura came down for a real quick visit.  Leyton enjoyed it when she read him books!

He spent lots of quality time with Grandma while Jordan and I snuck out for a quick date.  We went to the dinner theater in town and ate some pizza while enjoying the movie Argo.  It was a good film if your looking for something to see.

Grandma Laura also gave Leyton his very first Halloween outfit!

Leyton went to the doctor last week for his 4 month check up.  He is growing so fast!!!!!  Leyton is 14.7 pounds and 25 inches long.

Here are some 4 month pictures!

Tomorrow is Halloween!  We are super excited to take Leyton trick or treating for the first time!

Graduating to the Big Boy Crib

It's hard to believe that our little guy was so tiny in his bassinet at one time.  Here is a picture we took Leyton's first week home.  That blanket actually makes him look a lot bigger than he really was.  If you look at the rectangle on the side of the bassinet, he pretty much was the same size.  His feet just stretched a tiny bit past.

When he raises his arms now, his hands touch the top and his feet touch the bottom.  This means it's time for the big boy crib.  The only problem is that I wasn't ready for Leyton to leave our bedroom and be in his own room.  I want him in his crib, but I just wasnt ready for him to be a room apart.  I wanted to set up the pack and play for another 3 months, and then move him into his own bedroom when he was a bit older.

Jordan thought I was being silly, but he knew how bad I wanted Leyton in our room still so he surprised me when I came home from work one night.  This is what I found.

Jordan had taken apart the crib, and re-put it back together in our bedroom.  Now Leyton can get used to his big boy bed, and I will still get the comfort of him being next to me.  It was a wonderful surprise!
