Our little guy is 4 1/2 months old and still waking up 2-3 times a night to feed. We started to think that maybe he was ready for cereal or something to help his hunger. Leyton's doctor had mentioned that rice cereal (a common strating food) now has reports of Arsenic in it. He said we could skip cereal and go right into baby foods, and that they actually started both their kids on mashed potatoes. I had a jar of sweet potatoes in the house, so we tried them. Surprisingly Leyton did pretty well! Besides giving us strange looks, he did spit some out, but ate the majority!
Our little guy is just growing up so fast!
Since Leyton did so well, I decided to be ambitious and make him sweet potatoe baby food to save money and because it seems more nutritious. Everyone said it would be so easy, but I of course struggled. I couldn't get the potatoes to cook in the oven for the life of me! Three hours later I finally had baby food to freeze!
After making a huge mess in the kitchen, I was really proud of myself for the finished product. Next I think we'll introduce carrots!
